 Community Design

Community Design is an architecturalmagazine with a history of 12 years. It is known for its unique social andcultural perspectives on design and spatial phenomena. The magazine is hosted byTsinghua University, which is one of the best universities in architecture andurban planning education, research and practice in China. Operating jointlywith Tsinghua University is China Architectural and Industrial Press, which isthe largest publishing company specialized in architecture related books inChina.

Community Design is organized in athematic way. Every issue is dedicated to a certain topic, usually a specialphenomenon in our built environment. We do not take this phenomenon solely as afruit of design, but a product of social and cultural process. The scope of thetopics ranges from the living-room of our home to the sustainability of ourcity. Various materials, including in-depth articles, field reports, art works,photography and real projects, are organized to give multi-facetedperspectives. Beside the thematic reports, there are also special volumeshosted by experts in different fields, such as elderly home design, architecturetheory, social housing, urban planning theory and practice, and etc.

With a young and vibrantediting team, Community Design is dedicated to bringing architectural design to a larger scenario,which we believe will benefit both researchers and practitioners, as well as readerswho are concerned with our living environment.
